I have a problem to make the categories of the blog, with the tags of the documents I have no problem but I do not know if it is really well done that way, at first I had made several custom post types (one for each category) but then to show the post itself if I had problems because I had to specify in the call the type of document that it was, I don't know if I have explained myself well, someone can help me. Tags are a good approach to create categories in your blog post.
But I think that Custom Tags can be more suitable for your use-case.
