Improved Slice Machine experience with Screenshots

Hey Prismic People!

We’ve been hard at work making Slice Machine even more valuable for you, so we’re super excited to tell you all about these new additions and we hope you enjoy them as much as we do. Check them out below

:camera: Slice Machine Screenshots improvements

1: Drag and drop screenshots from the Slices list, from the Changes page, and per Slice variation in our new screenshots modal

2: Take automatic screenshots from inside the simulator

3: Set custom heights and widths for your screenshots in the simulator

4: Alerts for missing screenshots

:question:What are Screenshots in Slice Machine?

For those who are new to Slice Machine, screenshots are the best way to visually document your Slices, showing content editors what each Slice looks like and increasing the speed at which new content can be deployed. With this update, developers will find the experience of uploading screenshots for their Slices and variations optimized for both speed and efficiency. While Content Editors will in turn see a simplification of their work of visually building pages, as the screenshots allow them to easily find and use the exact Slice they need.

:gear: How to get these updates:

Developers can download Slice Machine v0.5.2 by running this command in your project:

npm install --save-dev slice-machine-ui@latest

Once you’ve tried it out we’d love to hear any feedback you have on Slice Machine and what we can do to make it even better. Just comment in this thread with your experiences!

Cheers,
Erik & the Prismic Team
