Creation of a *real* prismic community

One of the things Prismic seems to be entirely lacking is a dedicated community

As far as I can tell, this is the only platform that encourages community members to engage (other than the once a month streams)

But right now, the way this community operates is almost exclusively a way of asking staff a question. A thread is opened, a staff member answers, and the thread is immediately closed and taken to the internal system (if it's worth being tracked at all)

I want to be a member who helps provide support for the community and the prismic team while learning from other members who have similar problems, but right now there's nowhere for me to do that.

I can't connect with other prismic members, and that's a MASSIVE problem

This community forum doesn't feel like a place for discussions. Aggressive closing of topics and general lack of active members has led to this being a Q&A with staff

This can be seen by the discussion channel (designed for non-community topics and no staff support) being populated by mostly staff members - yikes

Sanity has a massively active slack channel with 10,000 members and it's community support on social media is arguably the reason it's so popular with developers

Where is prismic's community?

(Apologies if this sounds negative, I know that there are reasons for why this forum is handled the way it is - I just want the option to be involved in a real community of prismic members whether that be slack (preferred), discord, here with some significant changes to how topics are handled, or somewhere else)

Hey Dan!

First, let me say, thanks for the feedback! We truly appreciate having meaningful discussions about what we are building and what we can do together.

The good news is that this is exactly the challenge I am working to tackle! Moving forward, everyone will be hearing more from me and my fantastic colleagues, as we work to build an active and vibrant community for all of us. While I have only been here a short time, I can tell you there are some big plans in place to both build and transform our community experience. The new streams we have built are just the beginning and I am really looking forward to the programs we are launching in the new year. If in the meantime, if you or anyone else wants to chat about our community, please don’t hesitate to book some time on my calendar here: Calendly - Erik Israni

Cheers! Erik

Hey there @erik.israni.

Any idea if there is a real-time support channel that is being looked into?
The power of a bunch of the other community platforms (i.e. slack/discord) is that community members can usually help each other before a staff becomes necessary. At least for common issues or questions.

Community members for a forum now-a-days doesn't receive much of a revisit from a majority of community members unless they themselves have something they need resolved.

Discord, for example, is already being used by a significant chunk of the development ecosystem so would increase the likelyness of [some] activity, as opposed to the series of topics which seem to only get staff response, (see majority of posts on latest)

e.g. communities I'm already a part of to make work possible:

Hey!

Thanks for the message. You have a few points here and I'll do my best to answer all of them.

First off, in terms of understanding our support structure, we set up a page for this very purpose. You can check it out here: Help Center - Prismic. To answer your specific question, I do not believe there is real-time option available.

As for the community efforts, you'll be seeing a big push from our team this month and a whole host of new threads and engagement, both from the team and the community. We are working hard to make this a place worth returning to over and over again, not just when you have a problem. We are also working to tie in the community here with those who contribute to our open source work on Github and those who come to our live-streamed events. The ultimate goal is to turn this into a space where you can connect with other Prismic Devs and not only get your questions answered, but find inspiration and improve your skills.

I hope this answers your question and that we'll be seeing you around the forum more in the coming months!

Cheers,
Erik

Interesting thread, because two years later I was thinking about whether this community is even active.
