Customtypes folders for different environments

So i have two environments one PRD and one STG i want to change the customtypes for STG test/develop and i have read in the documents to copy the JSON model, but can i have two folders one for STG and for PRD and transfer the data when i am ready, what is the correct flow for these changes.

Can you tell us a bit more on your folder structure? You mean in your local project, your custom types are stored in 2 different folders? One for prod, and one for staging?
And are you using Slice Machine?
