Are there any estimated timelines around bringing this back? It's a bit bewildering that core features like this are being removed on a whim. Are you talking to customers before shipping these updates?

I don't have a precise estimate to give to you, but we're working on the search and will continue doing so in Q1 2025. We've improved this new search already with the addition of filter by author and by status, ordering the search results by last updated, and very soon you'll be able to search by UID again.
We're sorry this is taking longer than you'd hoped. We'll get back to this thread with news in 2025 of what's being rolled out and what's to come, and as soon as we have a more precise timeline, you'll hear of it.
