Special characters in UID

Hello!

I have my master locale in Prismic set to Norwegian, in my uid field for e.g. my page types "posts" I am allowed to use "æ" and "ø" but not "å", when I type "å" it's automatically transformed into "a". Is this a bug or intentional?

Thanks

The uid field is most commonly used to generate URLs. To ensure compatibility with URL structures, as they don't support special characters they are automatically transformed to their closest equivalent.
Yes, it's intentional.

Hi, We have made a B2B portal for our customer. They are from Norway and have characters that Prismic doesn't support. In Swedish we can write ÅÄÖ ön the URL#-field and it converts the characters to AAO. But when we write in Norwegian Æ, Ø (ÄÖ) it doesn't translate the characters and gets published. We end up with a broken link to the page. Same problem if we get a "." in the field.
Is there a way to solve this by code or do Prismic need to solve this? Thank for help!

Hi @alimenta,

Welcome to the community

Certain characters aren't supported in the UID/URL fields, so their transliteration is intentional. As to why the Norwegian characters don't have a similar behavior/result in broken links, I'm going to check with the dev team to gather more information and let you know then! In the meantime, I recommend just using the closest latin characters yourself to guarantee unbroken links.
