CDN Bandwidth usage

Hi community,

Mid-October, we've witnessed a sudden increase in CDN usage on our repo, and we're not sure why that is, could you help us figure it out?

  • Our API endpoint has been updated from https://xxx.prismic.io/api/v2 to https://xxx.cdn.prismic.io/api/v2 on September 27
    • You can see a spike on the graph below, most likely related to this change
    • Do you know why?
  • Since Oct 9, our usage has been extremely high, whilst our Netlify usage has gone down (static website)
  • In the October/November period, we've even reached 186% of bandwidth usage (never done before)

Thanks!

Hi Thomas,

From my experience, this is usually related to a video, did you upload any videos around mid october?

I should warn: serving videos from the Media Library can very quickly eat up your bandwidth allowance. You might want to consider a dedicated video hosting service, like YouTube, Vimeo, or Wistia. If you do choose to host your videos on Prismic, keep a close eye on your bandwidth usage.

Thanks.

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the answer. We did start to use a video on our home page around that date. We'll switch to Wistia, and follow up here if bandwidth doesn't go down.

Regards,
Thomas

Hi again, @Phil

Just to let you know that we did move our video to Wistia, and it looks like problem solved.

Thanks for the help!

Regards,
Thomas

I'm glad to hear that.
