Hi Prismic folks!
I’ve got a few small UI suggestions that might help users more easily manage oversized or unused assets in their Media Library.
1. Sort dropdown: We’ve got plenty of filters available to us in the Media Library (media type, uploader, tags), but no sorting capability. The ability to sort by file size (large vs small) and date (old vs new) would provide users a bit more flexibility in how they can view and manage their assets.
2. Size display: Media assets display their file size in KB / MB, but images only display their size in terms of pixels. It would be helpful for images to also display their file size, so any oversized assets could be more easily flagged and replaced.
3. Referenced / Unreferenced filter: It could be helpful to allow users to filter by ‘referenced / unreferenced’ or 'used / unused', so if media items are not referenced on the site—if they were once used but have since been removed from their respective documents—users could more confidently remove them instead of permanently leaving assets sitting on your servers.
Issue that it solves:
These small revisions would allow users to more easily sort through their Media Libraries and remove unused or oversized assets. This would help decrease average asset size in the long run (since it would help users manage oversized assets more easily), and decrease average repo storage size (as users would be able to more confidently remove unlinked assets).
