Side bar instead of horizontal presentation of tabs in custom types

Feature Idea (one per thread):

In a custom type, it would be super helpful if the tabs at the top were in a vertical, left-hand side bar.

Issue that it solves:

When there are many tabs, the text is fully viewable for each tab title. As it is, only a portion of the tab text shows making it difficult to know what the tab title is. We have a UI Text custom type where we add all the text in for UI components, etc, so we have lots of tabs to help us organize the text fields.

Hey Will,

This is a really nice idea, I appreciate all the info and I agree this would really help your use case.

I'll pass this to the @features-team, so they can consider in future updates to the writing room.

We are hoping to begin a round of improvements in the near future. Obviously though it's not something that we are working on right now. If/when this changes we'll update you here.
