Known size limit for Prismic documents (KB/MB)?

Hi everyone,

I remember in the past I was working on a page that became huge (including many slices with text, images, etc), and at some point the editor simply wouldn’t save any additional content.

Has anyone encountered a hard limit on the “weight” of a document (in KB/MB) in Prismic?

Questions

  1. Is there a published limit on document size in Prismic (KB/MB)?
  2. If so, what is that limit and where is it documented?
  3. Any recommended workarounds or best practices for very large pages (e.g. splitting content, using more Slices, etc.)?

Thanks for your question! The maximum size for a single Prismic document is 1MB. This includes the full JSON payload, so if you’re seeing issues near that limit, it’s worth checking large Rich Text fields, media metadata, or deeply nested structures.
